The Intense Name Game for Party or RA Program

I was in Forest Gump

Are you looking for a fun game to play this with your family over the holidays, with your friends at your New Years Eve Party, or are you a Resident Assistant looking for a fun game to play with your floor when school starts back up again?  Well then how about a game of Intense Name Game?

Supplies:

  • A bowl
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Pens/Pencils
  • Stopwatch/Phone

Game Prep Instructions:

  • Cut up the paper into slips before the program/event begins (5-10 per person depending on party size) divide evenly among guests.
  • Have everyone write 1 name per slip of paper (famous, someone in the room, dead, alive, fictional, or real) but ask your guests not to make the person to obscure.
  • Fold up each piece of paper and put them into the bowl.
  • Divide everyone up into two groups.

How to Play:

  • Round 1
    • Give the bowl to one person on one team they have 30 seconds to try to get their team to guess as many names as they can. If you as the host are participating have the other team do the timing and switch off.
    • The person whose turn it is pulls the names out one at a time and they can say anything to give clues to their team except the name itself if they say the name that one does not count.
    • Once their team guesses the name, they keep that slip and then they reach in and get another name, this continues until the 30 seconds are up.
    • If they were working on a name that was not guessed that name is thrown out.
    • Pass the bowl to a person on the other team and repeat.
    • Each team should keep a pile of slips they have guessed whether they were counted as points or not do not throw away or mangle the slips.
    • When all the names in the bowl have been guessed or passed on, record the points for each team each correct answer is worth 1 point.
  • Round 2
    • In this round correct answers are each worth 2 points.
    • Put all the slips back in the bowl
    • Start with which ever team would have gone next.
    • They have 30 seconds to get their team to guess the name on the slip but this time they can only say one word.
    • If they say more than one word they have to put the slip back in the bowl.
    • When the bowl is empty, count up the points and add them to the score from round one.
  • Round 3
    • In this round correct answers are each worth 3 points.
    • Put all the slips back in the bowl
    • Start with which ever team would have gone next.
    • They have 30 seconds to get their team to guess the name on the slip but this round is the Charades round.  You can only act out the name
    • NO TALKING
    • When the bowl is empty, count up the score and add them up for a final winner.

This game can be played with a large or small group of people.  The more people you have the more names will be in the bowl so adjust the amount of slips you give out per person accordingly so that the game lasts as long as you’d like it to.  You can always add more names to the bowl halfway through if you’d like to play longer.  Have fun and enjoy!
