This April, I was lucky enough to be a part of a beautiful wedding at the Athenaeum Gallery in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The Athenaeum is a beautiful site for small intimate weddings. The upstairs gallery in this beautiful historic building is always changing with its different artist installments and the charming courtyard provides a beautiful outdoor space for a ceremony or cocktail hour.
We were so lucky that on this day the rain held off and we were able to hold the couple’s ceremony in the beautiful brick courtyard. Â In this wedding there was no wedding party so as a treat for the guests I had the privilege of hiding the couples wedding rings under two guests seats. Â At the appropriate time the officiant asked all the guests to look under their seats. The two lucky guests with the rings under their seats got to come up and be a part of the ceremony and present the rings to the couple for their exchange.
Inside the Athenaeum I decorated the space with greenery and candles the couple had purchased. Â While our magnificent catering company Purple Onion set the tables. Please check the beautiful table setting in the photos! The ceremony was followed by cocktail hour and family and friend photo’s by Villa Li Photography. Â Her amazing photography is featured here in this post. Â The rest of the cocktail hour and dinner the guests had the opportunity to enjoy live jazz music provided by the Heart Song Trio.
After the delicious dinner the couple cut their cake from Bakeshop and enjoyed the other desserts provided by Purple Onion. As dessert wrapped up the guests boarded a bus provided by Uptown Bus on its way to the docks in Georgetown for the rest of the nights festivities aboard their night cruise with The Boomerang along the Potomac.
Another amazing event!
